Brown Teal perched on branch

Location: Coromandel Peninsula. North Island. New Zealand.
Ref: MP028
From the gallery: Wildfowl

Brown Teal are endemic to New Zealand. Only 1000 or so remain in the wild. They are highly vunerable to introduced predators especially the Stoat. They are mainly nocturnal feeders and by day form quite large roosting flocks of 50-60 birds.
